Agreements & Guidelines for Borrowing and Use
*must be 18 years of age or older
*must have valid ID / driver’s license
*must have a Rock Creek card in good standing (no overdue items, no fines over $3.00) with a current address on file.
*Card, proof of ID / address must be presented at checkout.
*Limited to one Hotspot per household / family.
*Due to demand, the library has instituted a holds-list policy on the hotspots. Hotspots will be checked out in the order of the names placed on the list. If the hotspot is not picked up within 24 hours of patron notification, it will go to the next patron in line.
*Agreement must be signed at checkout.
*You are not guaranteed 4G LTE service on Hotspots.
*The first 25GB has 4G; after that service may be reduced to 3G LTE.
Loan period: Mobile Hotspots may be checked out for 7 days. You must wait at least one (1) week before checking out another hotspot device.
Restrictions:
*Hotspots must be returned with original components in person to the loaning library.
*Hotspots must NEVER be placed in the book drop – they could be damaged and you will be responsible for replacement costs.
*The library reserves the right to refuse service for any reason.
*Hotspots will be deactivated on the first day they are overdue. After 5 days, patron will be billed replacement cost plus $25 max fine.
Fines and Liability:
*Overdue charge is $5.00 per day; maximum of $25
*After 5 days, the item will be marked lost and you will be billed for the total replacement cost of the device plus the $25 fine. Library privileges will also be suspended until all fines and/or replacement costs have been paid.
*Hotspots are not eligible for fine free weeks.
*Hotspots should be kept in a temperature controlled environment; do not leave the unit in a car.
*Patrons are responsible for costs associated with loss or damage of the Hotspot, and/or cords, adapters, cases, etc.
*Replacement costs: Total cost for all items is $170 [ Device: $125 Case: $15 Charge block & Cord: $30 ]
*Patrons are not permitted to purchase or provide their own replacement items.
*The Rock Creek Library is not responsible for websites visited on the Hotspot or any damage to patron’s devices.
